Exciting Times At Graylingwell Park Chichester

Working with Grange from a Residents’ point of view

“At first glance Graylingwell Park in Chichester is a large development with a mixture of new and refurbished properties. It is beautifully kept and well managed. However, look a little further, and you see a unique project that is providing an exciting opportunity for residents.

Graylingwell Park is set within 85 acres of glorious parkland. There is a mixture of 1 & 2 Bedroom apartments and 3 & 4 bedroom houses. The park, along with the communal areas, parking and landscaping is all managed by Grange Property Management. Trudie Hudson is the Head of Residential from Grange responsible for the smooth running of the development.

I accompanied Trudie on one of her regular visits to the scheme. We began by walking the estate and Trudie’s first stop was to personally call in to a resident to update her on progress of agreed works being carried out. The lady really appreciated the personal touch and Trudie also said she would follow up in writing so as there was a record for the resident.”

Community Development Trust

“We then went to the Community Development Trust who have an office on site. Residents at Graylingwell Park pay a small contribution to the Trust each year as part of their service charges. This income is collected by Grange on behalf of the trust and contributes towards the huge number of activities they run at Grayingwell Park. These include homework clubs for children, pilates classes, a playgroup and even fish & chip suppers. In terms of value for money I was sold!

More importantly was the sense of community and belonging this is creating at Graylingwell Park. Many new housing developments can be soulless with neighbours struggling to get to know others within the community. There is a real appetite amongst the residents and those working on the development to create a truly special place to be.

Trudie continued with her tour and I was struck by her high standards and attention to detail. She is responsible for a team of over 12 people working on the estate and when I asked her how she manages to keep everything running so smoothly she explained “My residents are paying for the services we provide here and I think about the service I would expect. I basically put myself in their shoes”.”

Note:
Grange Property Management work with Latimer Homes at Graylingwell Park and previously the development won the What House Award for most sustainable development.
